Geraldine Homemakers and Community Leaders

Meets At 1:00 p.m. on the Fourth Tuesday of each month at the
Homemaker's Building on Old Mill Road in Geraldine, Alabama.

    
    In this year of 2008 the Geraldine Club is celebrating 86 years of being a club.  Eighty-six years ago women came together to preserve the tomatoes so that their families could enjoy them for a longer time - canning was the answer.  They were first known as the "Tomato Club". 
 Today we still come together to empower each other through
education, joining together to make a difference in home and community.

On going collection of can tabs for Dialysis patient treatments.
Aluminum cans for recycling.
Soup labels, phone books, box tops for education for our local school.
Plastic bags for recycling and the Senior Nutrition Center
Library books to public and school libraries
Boo Boo Babies to county health department
Tote bags with books, etc for County hospital
Quilts, blankets for DHR
Funding and help with Library Summer Reading Program.
Support GHS Band boosters
Booth at County Fair
First books for newborns at county hospital
Birthday party for Nursing Home
Christmas party for Blackwell Home

January Sponsor Essay Contest in Elementary School
February Provide members for reading for Dr. Seuss Birthday at schools and for after school reading, writing program.

Gather Baby Bottle Change for Sav A Life.
March Annual Quilt Show - Main Fundraising Event
April Flower and plant swap. 

Baby shower for Sav A Life
May Scholarship presentation for 2 GHS seniors. 

DHR foster child quilt, blanket, stuffed animal gifts.
June Provide refreshments and funds for Library Summer 
Reading Program.
July Annual Blood Drive for the Red Cross
August Retreat day for club includes covered dish luncheon
September Fund raising for St Jude Children's Hospital.
The Main Event is the walk, bike-a-thon. 

Participate in County Fair.
October Award ceremony for St. Jude participation.
November Thanksgiving celebration
December Nursing Home and Blackwell House celebrations.

           

 

            Join the fun and fellowship with great learning programs as well
as craft projects monthly at the Geraldine Homemakers Building,
